The original copy of this marriage license is large (16 inches by 20 inches). I scanned it in two parts, joined the parts
in Photoshop (An graphics program), and retouched the tears, stains and scratches out of it.
There are some alterations on this marriage license. Where it says, on the open book in the center of the certificate,
William T Morgan, Age 23, the 3 has been written in with pen. All the other writing on the license is in pencil. The 3 looks
like a later addition. There has been an erasure where the first "Lemington" was written. It's not possible to
tell if this was done when the license was first written out or if a change was made later. The "Lemington" entry
is in pencil. Additional Note: In a life history I have for William Thomas Morgan it states that he was 29 when he was married.
My mother had this marriage license in the box with her family pictures. She had it in an envelope and had written "Marriage
License of Wm Thomas Morgan and Sarah Lovina Ross" on the outside of the envelope. People have looked at it and wondered
if it is a real marriage license. It looks more like a poster, being so large and colorful. But, so far as I know it is a
real marriage license.
