ABOVE Sitting...William Thomas Morgan (1856-1946) and Sarah Lovina Ross Morgan (1863-1919). Lovina's brother James Melvin Ross (1869-1937) standing behind. When we first started working with this picture (in 2001) we thought the baby was Lovina's first child, Sarah Jane Holden. Lovina was married first to John Holden, had one child by John Holden, and John Holden was killed the day the baby, Sarah Jane Holden, was born, 21 June 1879. When we figured out that the man standing behind is Lovina's brother Jim Ross, then it became clear that the baby is not Sarah Jane (Holden) Morgan and that the picture was made later than 1880. Because Jim Ross was born in 1869 so he would have only been ten years old when Sarah Jane (Holden) Morgan was born. In this picture he is closer to twenty years old, dating the picture at about 1889 or 1890. One copy of this picture came from the Clifton (Dick) Morgan family and Clifton told his oldest daughter that the baby in the picture was him. So the baby is most likely Clifton (Dick) Morgan who was born 2 Feb 1889 and died 4 March 1988. If the baby is Clifton Morgan then the picture would have been made in about the year 1890, which corresponds to Jim Ross's age.

The picture below of William Thomas and Lovina Morgan and some of their family was probably taken somewhere around 1894.

The picture below of William Thomas and Lovina Morgan and some of their family was probably taken about 1912.
